Nelust Wyclef Jean is a Haitian rapper, singer, songwriter, producer, and instrumentalist whose career has shaped multiple eras of hip-hop. Born in Haiti and raised in the United States, he developed musical skills as a performer, producer, and guitarist. Jean gained international recognition as a founding member of the Fugees alongside Lauryn Hill and Pras. As the group's producer and guitarist, he contributed significantly to their 1996 album, "The Score," which achieved major worldwide success. In 1997, he launched his solo career with "Wyclef Jean Presents The Carnival," featuring the singles “We Trying to Stay Alive” and “Gone till November.” He subsequently expanded his catalog through various projects and collaborations, including "Mystery," "Mystery (Remixes)," and "Clef Notes - Quantum Leap, Vol. 1."
His career reflects sustained creative independence, cross-genre experimentation, production work, and performance, maintaining a connection to hip-hop while exploring broader musical directions across several decades.
