Lubiana
Belgium
Music became part of Lubiana Kepaou’s life from an early age. She was born in Brussels to a Belgian mother and Cameroonian father; she studied piano, guitar, vocals, and later jazz at the conservatory in Leuven. Her early career gained visibility through “The Voice Belgique” before discovering the kora, which became central to her musical identity.
Lubiana released her debut EP in 2020, followed by her first album, “Beloved,” in 2021, which explores identity, love, and self-acceptance. Her second album, “Terre Rouge,” arrived in 2024, featuring Gaël Faye and renowned kora player Toumani Diabaté. Her accomplishments include developing an international performance career and opening for Youssou N’Dour.
In 2026, Lubiana expanded the project with “Terre Rouge (Mother Earth),” featuring new material and a collaboration with Fatoumata Diawara. Through her work, she continues exploring her Belgian-Cameroonian heritage while bringing the kora into contemporary music.
