Sega

Seggay
Sega originated in Mauritius during the 18th century among enslaved Africans, evolving into the island's national music by the 1960s. The genre fuses African rhythms with Mauritian Chutney, Bhojpuri, and Western influences like calypso and reggae, featuring ravanne drum, maravanne rattle, and triangle. Sega's lively rhythms and danceable beats make it a staple at Mauritian parties and celebrations, expressing the island's multicultural heritage.
