Journey
Victoria Kimani was born on 28 July 1985 in Los Angeles, California, to Kenyan missionary parents. She spent her childhood moving between the United States and Benin City, Nigeria, before settling in Kenya as a teenager. These experiences gave her a broad perspective that influenced the way she approaches music and storytelling.
Her interest in music began early, performing in church choirs and writing songs by the age of sixteen. She gained valuable experience as a backing vocalist, learning the industry and building confidence before launching her solo career. In 2012, Kimani became the first female artist signed to Chocolate City, releasing her debut single “Mtoto” in 2013.
Kimani’s music catalogue expanded with songs such as “Show,” “All The Way,” and the collaboration “Prokoto” with Diamond Platnumz. In 2016, she released her first full-length album, Safari, featuring several prominent African artists, further establishing her presence in the music world. Outside of music, she acted in the film 7 Inch Curve and supported the Strong Girl campaign, promoting women’s empowerment across Africa.
Her career reflects her cross-cultural upbringing, professional growth, and commitment to using her platform for creative expression and social initiatives, marking her as one of Africa’s notable musical figures.
