Journey
Jeeba, born Djibril Bâ in Thiès, Senegal, is a Senegalese singer, songwriter, and performer renowned for his innovative fusion of traditional and contemporary music. He is the creator of “Jolofbeat,” a signature sound blending Senegalese rhythms from sabar drums, Afro-trap, pop, R&B, soul, and neo-soul, crafting music that bridges Senegalese heritage with global trends.
Growing up, Jeeba was inspired by Senegalese music legends such as Baaba Maal and Youssou N’Dour, which influenced his early understanding of rhythm and melody. He began writing his first songs and performing them during Fosco's end-of-year celebrations, later joining a Galsen rap group before focusing on his university studies.
In 2017, Jeeba launched his solo career, founding the label Abadane Daiman and releasing early singles such as Deukeul, So Bayiwoul, and Ligueye, which introduced him to a national audience. He has since expanded his repertoire with tracks like Happy Birthday, Yitma, Diarabi, Décorée, and Guuy, culminating in his debut album, "Alajee" (2022), featuring standout songs such as Champion, Lamou Saff, and Aladji.
Jeeba’s work has earned him national and continental recognition, including nominations at the Raaya Musique Awards for Revelation of the Year and Best Collaboration, as well as a nomination for Most Promising Artist of the Year at the All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA).
His music seamlessly fuses rhythmic innovation with expressive vocals, and his energetic performances continue to captivate audiences locally and internationally, establishing him as a leading voice in contemporary West African music.
