Journey
Josephine Churemi Efe Otiko, professionally known as Churemi, is an influential Nigerian singer, songwriter, and advocate, celebrated for her sophisticated blend of genres—soul, reggae, Afropop, jazz, classical, and blues. Born on April 28 in the vibrant city of Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Churemi discovered her passion for music at a young age, starting to write and compose songs at just eight years old. Her early musical experiences, enriched by participation in church and school choirs, laid a strong foundation for her artistic career. In 2015, she captured the public's attention by winning the Rivers State Talent Competition, which led to her role as Youth Alive Ambassador for Winner's Chapel. Her recognition was further solidified in 2018 when she became the Rebrand Ambassador after another significant win. Beyond her artistic ventures, Churemi is committed to social justice and education, particularly concerning girl-child advocacy. Through her NGO, she spearheads efforts to empower young girls, aligning her music's message of hope and empowerment with tangible social change, celebrated through initiatives like the International Day of the Girl Child campaigns.
