Youssoupha Mabiki, also known as Youssoupha, is a French-Congolese rapper. Inspired by his father's Congolese rhumba legacy, he gained recognition in the US underground with "Freres Lumiere." He started the hip-hop group Bana Kin after listening to the popular Congolese band Bisso Na Bisso. His impactful entry into French hip-hop came with his debut, "Eternal Recommencement" (2005), leading to collaborations with Method Man. His prominence in French hip-hop was solidified by "Noir désir" (2012), addressing socioeconomic themes, and further bolstered by influential tours and albums.
