Journey
Cheemar is a Nigerian independent artist shaping a modern sound rooted in Afrobeats while drawing influence from R&B, Highlife, and Dancehall. Emerging from Lagos’ underground music scene, he represents a wave of artists redefining genre boundaries through emotionally driven and melody-focused music.
Born Precious Chima Okorie in Lagos, Cheemar’s early musical foundation was shaped in church, where choir sessions with his mother helped develop his ear for harmony and songwriting. He began releasing music publicly in 2019, steadily building a growing audience through consistent independent output.
His early releases, including “Dreams” (2019), “Kravin” (2020), and “For You” (2020), introduced a sound centered on vulnerability and melody. In 2024, he expanded his artistry with the self-titled project "Cheemar," exploring themes of ambition, freedom, and self-reflection.
He followed with the festive EP "Jollof Jingles" (2024) and “Kilode,” “Kilode (Unplugged),” and “Clarity” (2025).
