Ali Saleh Kiba, widely known as Alikiba, is a celebrated Tanzanian singer, songwriter, performer, and entrepreneur whose influence stretches across East Africa and beyond. Born on November 29, 1986, in Iringa and raised in Dar es Salaam, he discovered his love for music at a young age, often inspired by the sounds and culture around him. His dedication eventually led him into the studio, where he released his first official single, “Maria,” in 2004 an introduction that marked the beginning of a remarkable career.
Alikiba rose to prominence with his 2008 debut album “Cinderella,” a project that earned widespread attention for its fresh sound and emotional storytelling. His smooth vocals, thoughtful lyrics, and ability to blend Bongo Flava with Afro-pop elements made him one of the region’s most recognisable voices. After taking a short break from the industry, he made a powerful comeback in 2014 with the hit “Mwana,” re-establishing himself as a leading figure in African music.
Throughout his career, Alikiba has collected numerous accolades, including multiple honours at the Tanzanian Music Awards. His 2022 album “Only One King” was celebrated for its rich production and artistic growth, winning Best Album, Best Male Artist, and Best East African Artist.
Beyond performing, Alikiba is an entrepreneur and mentor. He founded Kings Music, a label designed to guide and promote young Tanzanian artists, and later launched Crown FM, expanding his footprint in the media sector.
Offstage, Alikiba is a devoted family man, married to Amina Khalef, with whom he shares children. With more than two decades of experience, he remains one of East Africa’s most influential cultural icons, admired for his consistency, artistry, and commitment to uplifting the music industry.
